Arthritis Drug Recall

Merck Drug Company Recalls Major Arthritis Drug. The arthritis drug, Vioxx, used by over two million people, is being pulled off the market after a study confirmed long-suspected concerns that it dramatically raises the risk of heart attack and stroke. According to Merck the company making the drug, “Patients who are currently taking Vioxx should contact their health care providers to discuss discontinuing the use of Vioxx as soon as possible.” The FDA is now monitoring other drugs in the same class such as Pfizer’s Celebrex to determine of they may be producing the same elevated risks. Worldwide sales of Vioxx totaled $2.25 Billion last year alone!!!
