Atlanta resident Robin Wilson is nearly half the woman she used to be. The old Robin is slowly disappearing - Replaced by Someone she likes even more.

Robin Wilson comes from a large family - in the number of siblings she has (eight) and in the pounds they weigh. Although she was disgusted with her ballooning body, she didn't want to exercise and couldn't stick to diets. It wasn't until a weight-challenged cousin researched a nearby Curves that Robin thought it was time to tackle the issue. For the first year, she limped along, going to Norcross Curves infrequently and expecting to lose just a few inches. Fear of looming health problems finally kicked her into high gear-she goes faithfully three time a week and eats sensibly. The numbers this financial manager is counting now are the pounds that keep falling away.

Biggest Surprise "I never thought I could lose 100 pounds. When I first joined Curves, I expected to drop a few. At my highest weight I needed to lose a whole person . Thanks to Curves, I've done just that!"

Thinking Small " When I started, the thought of trying to lose so much weight was daunting. I told myself that all I had to do was get from 360 to 350. Then I set a goal of 340, and so on. Every 10 pounds is a new victory."

No Fear of Flying "I no longer dread trying to fit into a seat on a plane, or sitting in a booth at a restaurant. I used to limit my social activities because I was so embarrassed."

Un-Supersize Me "I'm smaller now than I was when I was in junior high! This is the best I've ever felt about myself. My confidence has soared as my waistline has slimmed down."

Goaltender "I'm not yet where I want to be, which is under 200 pounds. Thanks to Curves, I believe I can make that happen. I also want to help others lose weight and get healthier. I know the struggle all too well, and it really makes me feel good to know that I might inspire someone who may not otherwise be able to do it."

And here’s the 2008 update on how Robin’s doing now.
Robin was recently featured on the Oprah Winfrey show for Oprah’s "2008 Best Life Challenge”

Four years after her health scare, Robin is healthy, her blood pressure is normal, and she has lost more than 225 pounds! "For so long, I wanted to do something about it, and finally I put the focus on the determination into what I needed to do in order to be successful at it," she says.

While the need to lose an amount of weight equivalent to an entire person was "overwhelming," Robin says she was able to overcome this hurdle by taking smaller steps. "I just set 10-pound goals for myself," she says. "Once I hit that 10-pound goal, I set another one, and I continued until all the weight was gone."

When Robin visits her family, she still nibbles on fried foods—but only in moderation. "When I do indulge, I make sure that I plan that and I make sure that it is only done for one meal for a very short period of time. I go right back to my program," she says. "I realized that it is those things that you do on a long-term basis every day that really determine your health rather than those things that you do just occasionally."
